On their debut EP, Gravity Made Us Run, the duo flexes a hearty mid-western take on the post-hardcore/math rock sound that brings to mind classic bands like Shiner. Opening track, “Passport” is a perfect starting point as Blue Sky Law show an undeniable penchant for penning intense emotional-fueled songs. There is a uniform structure to each song here yet they all maintain their own individual personality. The instrumental title track serves as a brilliant centerpiece for the EP with it’s driving chords and almost hypnotic push and pull. The ambitious and slower paced “Hands Straight Down” clocks in over the six-minute mark and displays the band in all their glory. Dynamic and flat out rocking Blue Sky Law fill their songs with meaty riffs and catchy melodies that overpower the senses. Gravity Made Us Run drives home the fact that bands like Blue Sky Law have sadly become a rare breed. - Sound As Language
